HBCU Library Alliance 2023 Membership Engagement Survey Results

The HBCU Library Alliance surveyed its members in July 2023 to assist in designing new programs, events, and professional development opportunities. Shaneé Yvette Willis, HBCU Library Alliance Program Manager, led the effort.

Survey respondents articulated specific requests, to include:

  1. Reviving the HBCU Library Alliance Leadership Program,
  2. Creating webinars focused on collection development and management, digital tools and emerging technologies, and research and scholarship,
  3. Identifying grants for research projects, continuing education and certification, professional conference attendance, community outreach initiatives and digitization projects, and
  4. Developing fee-based services to non-HBCU entities.

In October 2023, the HBCU Library Alliance hosted a virtual session for members to discuss the Membership Engagement Survey results.  Members engaged in sessions featuring Leadership and Management Skills, Collection Development and Management, Digital Tools and Emerging Technologies, Research and Scholarship, and Grants and Creating Community Collaborative Funding.

The survey results inspired planning for the Spring 2024 Professional Development Workshop Series. This online program will include expert-led sessions, interactive activities, group discussions, guest speakers, sponsors, and valuable resources.
